SOUTH FULTON, Ga. — "It's more than just a job."
That's what the City of South Fulton Police Department is saying after one of its officer's good deeds surfaced.
According to the department, it has been trying to crack down on panhandling and soliciting off Cascade Road near I-285 and Research Center Atlanta Drive, issuing warnings and citations - and sometimes arrests, when necessary.
But one officer, Sgt. Williams, thought a different approach was needed. That's why when Williams saw Michael - an armed forces veteran - asking for help, he decided to step in.
According to South Fulton Police, Williams gave Michael a hand filling out job applications, a fresh haircut and new clothes to help Michael in the job search.
The department shared Williams and Michael's story, where the community is applauding the officer's actions.
"That is wonderful! Truly serving the community in ways that matter. Love it!," wrote Lisa Mobley Putnam.
"[Heart] this story and your approach! Thank you for taking the time out to assist this gentleman. I wish him well on his job search!," wrote Monica McKendrick.
