ATLANTA — The 4th of July is fast approaching, and the metro Atlanta area is ready to celebrate! Celebrations are taking place all throughout the next week in preparation for Independence Day, and 11Alive has compiled a list of great options for you to check out as your plan your holiday.
AJC Peachtree Road Race
The 55th annual Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race will run from 8:30-11 a.m. on July 4. The race begins at Lenox Square, at 3393 Peachtree Road in Atlanta.
The world's largest 10K race has participants from ages 10 to 98!
Freedom Celebration at Mount Paran North
Mount Paran North's Freedom Celebration is a fun, free event for all ages. This year's event is on June 28 at 6 p.m. at 1700 Allgood Road in Marietta. The evening will include food trucks, live music, a Kids' Zone with inflatables and a fireworks show.
Admission is free. Tailgating is encouraged, and attendees are reminded to bring lawn chairs.
Red, White & Boom!
The City of Norcross is once again hosting Red, White & Boom to kick off Independence Day festivities. Food, live music, face-painting and, of course, fireworks will be available.
The event will last from 5 to 10 p.m. on July 3 at Lillian Webb Park. Admission is free. Attendees can bring blankets and chairs to sit on, but shade structures, tents and umbrellas are not allowed.
4th of July at Lake Lanier
Lanier Islands offers a variety of activities to enjoy on the 4th of July. Activities are planned every day, July 3-7.
Offerings include pickleball courts, bingo, fireworks, poolside and in-pool activities and more!
Six Flags Over Georgia Fireworks Celebration
Six Flags Over Georgia is celebrating Independence Day with a fireworks show, powered by Coca-Cola, July 3-6. The nightly show will be at dusk in from of SUPERMAN: Ultimate Flight.
Guests can also experience the 4th of July as a VIP with a VIP Fireworks Party, enjoying after-hours access to Hurricane Harbor Atlanta, an All-American buffet, premium fireworks viewing and a new fireworks spectacular featuring a special appearance from the Looney Tunes, the Funtime Drumline, live singing and dancing with the cast of Surfin’ USA. VIP Fireworks Party tickets are available online.

Fantastic Fourth Celebration
This Stone Mountain classic will light up nightly July 1-7 at 9:30 p.m. Fantastic Fourth Celebration was voted the “Best Place to see Fireworks in Atlanta” by AJC readers, a “Must-See Fireworks Show” by USA Today and one of Reader’s Digest’s picks for “America’s Most Spectacular Fourth of July Fireworks.” This year will feature a new Music Across America Light Show with a fireworks finale.
During the day, park visitors can enjoy family attractions, see live entertainment during Summer at the Rock or hike up the mountain! Access to the evening show is included with attraction tickets or light show-only tickets. Space is limited, and it is recommended to get to the park by 5 p.m.
Pied Piper Parade
Decatur is hosting its Pied Piper Parade on July 4. The parade starts at 6 p.m. and is followed by a 7 p.m. concert and 9 p.m. fireworks!
Parties interested in signing up for the parade can do so here. Line-up begins at 5:30 p.m. the day of the event. Participants can go on foot, wagon, bike, car, float or anything else creative they come up with!
4th in the Park Celebration
The City of Marietta's celebration begins at 10 a.m. on July 4 and lasts all day. It will include a parade, free live music, an arts and crafts show, food, carnival games and a fireworks finale!
