Marietta restaurant gives back on Thanksgiving Day with free wings, traditional dinners

Marietta Wings and More is well-known in the community for what's in its name. It helped those in need have a meal on Thanksgiving.

MARIETTA, Ga. — Many people relax on the couch after a filling Thanksgiving meal with family and friends, but that's not the case for everyone. For some, having a warm meal can be hard to come by.

A Cobb County restaurant helped to change that on Thanksgiving Day. Turkey, mac and cheese and biscuits may be some of the things you think of for Thanksgiving dinner, but how about wings? People in need got all of that at Marietta Wings and More.

Marietta Wings and More is well-known in the community for what's in its name.

“Everybody knows that if you go over there, we’re going to have some chicken wings," Owner KM Newaj said.

Those at the restaurant made sure people got not only wings but some traditional Thanksgiving food as well.

“We are serving rice pilaf, our very famous yellow rice pilaf, and along with the rice, we have turkey breast," Newaj said.

Newaj wanted to make sure those from all walks of life have something to be thankful for.

“It’s not just about the homeless. It’s a lot of people; they don’t have a plan to have a dinner, or they don’t have a lot, so they also come," Newaj said.

It's a gesture those who may not otherwise have a Thanksgiving meal said they appreciate.

“Thank you so much. Happy Thanksgiving, everybody," a customer said.

“We just keep in mind that the community gives us a lot of business, so one day, we can give back," Newaj said.

This is the 10th year for the Thanksgiving dinner giveaway, and the owner hopes it will continue for many more years to come.
