DULUTH, Ga. — A beloved Atlanta holiday tradition is back with a new twist!
Penny, the new Pink Pig, will be at the Gas South Convention Center in Duluth during the Peach State's largest holiday event: Georgia Festival of Trees. The Pink Pig is a pig-themed train for all ages, first created in 1953 by Rich's department store.
Georgia Festival of Trees will take place from Saturday, Nov. 23, through Sunday, Dec. 1. Penny will debut at the Opening Night Gala on Friday, Nov. 22.
In addition to Penny, there will also be a second train, Penny's brother Porter. Penny and Porter are the grandchildren of Priscilla, Atlanta's beloved Macy's Pink Pig, who retired in 2021.
“It’s an honor to bring back the Pink Pig to a new generation of Georgians,” Georgia Festival of Trees Executive Director Angie Ulibarri previously said in a news release. “Macy’s Pink Pig has been an iconic symbol of the holidays in Atlanta, and it’s exciting to officially ring in the holiday season with this timeless tradition.”
