While some wish for flowers or chocolates from their loved ones on Valentine’s Day, others might be hoping for a credit boost.
Well, maybe not, but according to some studies, it’s important to know your significant other’s credit history before you get too involved — and not just because you’ll be responsible for their debt: credit ratings can also indicate relationship skills and level of commitment.
A new study from Experian ranked Atlanta as 16th in the top 20 cities where most single men, ages 33-39, live. Their average FICO score was 664. For cities with the most single women ages 33-39, Atlanta came in at No. 15 with an average FICO credit score of 654.
When it comes to younger millennial women, ages 24 to 32, the cities where single women in this age group have the highest average FICO scores is Arlington, Virginia, the study found.
Unmarried young men show the most fiscal responsibility in Sunnyvale, California; Cambridge, Massachusetts; Arlington, Virginia, Boston and San Francisco. Also in the top 10 are Seattle, Irvine, Madison, New York City and Fremont, California.
