GEORGIA, USA — LL Flooring, one of the nation's largest flooring retailers, announced it's closing 94 stores as part of a bankruptcy filing.

The flooring company, formerly known as Lumber Liquidators, filed for voluntary Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in Delaware on Sunday.

However, in a letter to customers, the company's CEO, Charles Tyson, said it would remain "open for business" despite some store closures.

"While we recently announced plans to close 94 of our stores, LL Flooring has more than 300 continuing stores that, along with our online platform, remain open and operating. The Company remains focused on providing customers with outstanding hard and soft surface flooring and an exceptional shopping experience," Tyson wrote in the letter. "The Chapter 11 process is a legal tool that will provide us with time and financial flexibility as we pursue a going-concern sale of the business."
