ATLANTA — Thanksgiving is just a week away - and while most people are planning what they're making, one group of young women is planning out every move they'll make at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
And 15 young women from Woodstock will be performing at it.
This is a huge opportunity for these young women from the Studio 55 Dance Troupe in Woodstock.
They're leaving tonight for New York City where they'll have a spot in the parade.
Dancers in the Studio 55 Troupe want everything to be perfect for next Thursday. Dancing in the Macy's Day Parade was an opportunity they never saw coming.
"It was very exciting and not expected," said Chloe Poskevich, a 17-year-old dancer.
The 15 dancers from the Woodstock Studio got the spot after winning the professionalism award at a Nashville dance competition.
"Have a positive attitude and respect for others and show that you care about others and it's fun," said Poskevich.
"I think it's going to be very exciting, we will meet a lot of new people, make new friends," said 14-year-old Jaeda Nesick
"Very excited and I was just so proud of myself," said 11-year-old Kelsie Mattson.
If the dancers seem excited, the studio owner says she's even more over the moon.
"It's just a huge honor. I danced my entire life and I've never been given this opportunity to do this, so I'm just super proud of them," said Kaila May.
Only 600 dancers in the country get to take part in the parade.
May says it's even more special that her girls won the spot by having a great attitude.
"Even though it is a competition, we are trying to win, but we are all human, and there are other people want the same thing. so we need to be gracious," said May.
They've been practicing nonstop for every eventuality ahead of the parade - and trying to prepare for the temperature.
They don't have the exact lineup for the parade, so they don't know quite where they will appear, but they said they'll try and wave or wink at all their fans in Atlanta.
