ATLANTA -- An acclaimed documentary examining the shooting death of Jordan Davis and the subsequent trial of his accused shooter opens in Atlanta on Friday.

Davis, a 17-year-old from Marietta, was shot and killed after an argument over loud music in Jacksonville, Fla. in 2012.

The man accused in the shooting, Michael Dunn, first trial ended with a conviction of attempted murder on other teens in the car who survived that night, but the jury was hung on the murder charge for the one child who died. In a second trial, Dunn was found guilty of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison.

The documentary 3 1/2 Minutes Ten Bullets, directed by Marc Silver, shares the story of the Davis family and the trial.
