Amazon says it has brought 34,000 jobs to Georgia through investments

Amazon issued a new report outlining what it says is its economic impact across the country.

ATLANTA — Amazon has provided new data in a self-issued economic impact report that says the company has brought 34,000 jobs to Georgia across various investments over the years.

According to the report, Amazon’s investments have generated over $20.1 billion to Georgia’s gross domestic product (GDP). The methodology behind the report was not provided -- Amazon's website says "all investment and economic impact figures have been estimated by Keystone Strategy, a third-party consultancy."

Amazon says the figures reflect the full scope of its involvement in the state, going beyond direct hires. The company says its investments have also supported more than 44,700 indirect jobs in sectors such as construction, transportation, retail, health care and hospitality.

“As Georgia continues to break economic records all across the state, partners like Amazon are essential to creating jobs and opportunities here in the best place for opportunity,” said Georgia Governor Brian Kemp in a statement. “These latest figures confirm that our approach to working with employers to open doors while investing in critical needs like infrastructure and workforce are paying transformational dividends for both hardworking Georgians and companies alike.”
