Pepsi to expand into DeKalb County, creating 136 jobs

Gov. Brian Kemp's office said Thursday the expansion would bring Pepsi's workforce in the city of Tucker to more than 600 full-time workers.

TUCKER, Ga. — Pepsi will evidently be further encroaching on Coca-Cola's turf.

Gov. Brian Kemp's office said Thursday the soft-drink rival to Atlanta-based Coke would be adding 136 jobs with a $260 million investment at its manufacturing facility in DeKalb County.

The expansion will bring Pepsi's workforce in the city of Tucker to more than 600 full-time workers.

“We are excited that another division of PepsiCo has chosen Georgia to grow their operations,” Gov. Kemp said in a statement. “We applaud the leadership and economic development team with the City of Tucker and send our great thanks to them and to our partners in DeKalb County and at the Technical College System of Georgia for their continued efforts to create jobs and opportunities for hardworking Georgians.”

According to the governor's office, Pepsi has invested just shy of half a billion dollars ($460 million) in Georgia in the last two years, with a previous $200 million investment in Perry.

The DeKalb County facility at 1644 Rock Mountain Boulevard will expand by 260,000 square feet with this latest investment and increase production five-fold by 2025, the governor's office said, "making it one of the largest manufacturing facilities in the company portfolio."

“This expansion will greatly increase PBNA’s production serving nearby Atlanta and the wider Georgia region to continue the growth of our business and customers in the area,” PepsiCo Beverages North America executive Karen Jordan said in a statement “We are proud to increase our footprint locally as a supplier, producer, and employer, bringing with us our gender equity and sustainability mission to create positive change.”
