ATLANTA — There’s nothing small about Small Business Saturday.
The initiative was started over 10 years ago and brings in billions of dollars in revenue every year. The promotion equaled $18 billion in sales in 2022.
Donna-Marie Hayle started her business during the pandemic and uses venues like The Atlanta BeltLine Indie Market Experience to showcase her goods.
“I am a former law partner and I was very burned out and I had a COVID hobby of making candles in my basement and it went viral on TikTok," Hayle said.
Small businesses like Lala’s Pink Unicorns, which is also using the BeltLine market to attract customers, account for 44% of the country’s overall economic activity.
Toni Green-Hobbs runs a business called Detroit Player Clothing.
Green-Hobbs is grateful for the increased traffic she gets on this day.
“With the Small Business Saturday, it's been really highlighted, and it's been great for companies like myself. We can get that spotlight, that notoriety on us that sometimes we don’t normally get throughout the year," Green-Hobbs said.
During Small Business Saturday, many businesses run specials online and in person.
