Tips for Christmas shopping on a budget

We are quickly closing in on Black Friday.

ATLANTA — We are quickly closing in on Black Friday, and parents are on the hunt not only to fill the gift list, but also to save a little money at the same time.

Finding the best deal can be so hard to navigate especially if you only buy gifts at the first store you go to.

11Alive Anchor Cheryl Preheim sat down with Ali Mierzejewski, the editor in chief of toyinsider.com to see the best deals under $30 - including some under $5.

Here's what Ali highlighted:

What she said: "These are so cute, they have these little plush characters, they either come in cows or aliens, they each have their own little personality, but the come in these mystery bags. So when kids get them they can pull them right out and they won't know which character they're going to get. They're just 5 dollars each, so easy to collect.

What she said: "So Twister Air is really fun, it's a really active game, it's just $19.99, it comes with these wrist and ankle bands that kids can wear - you hook it up to your iPad, this is a super hot game this year, it's also budget friendly which is definitely something that we look for for games on our list."

  • Where to shop: "With those bigger retailers like Amazon, Target and Walmart, as you order more things you get discounts on your shipping, which is super great. So if you're online shopping, that's a really great place to look. Five Below is awesome because everything is below five dollars, you know that you're gonna get a deal when you're walking in there and browsing around. But parents can also look at places like Big Lots or TJ Maxx who are starting to really build up their toy department, and you can get a lot of discounted toys there as well."
