ATLANTA — Experts have been warning since Russia's invasion of Ukraine that there will be a large ripple effect on consumer and commodity markets around the world, most acutely with oil.
Around Atlanta, we're beginning to see that impact gas prices.
That would be an extreme, but GasBuddy's price map does currently show a couple locations in the Buckhead area where gas is at or north of $4 a gallon.
Elsewhere in the city, the map shows that parts of Midtown are pushing $3.90 and it generally appears to be around $3.80 east of Downtown in neighborhoods like Inman Park, the Old Fourth Ward and Little Five Points.
There are a few spots on the Westside where it's still $3.45, and in southwest Atlanta it ranges from about $3.40 in the West End, and $3.30 in Pittsburgh and Sylvan Hills, to more than $3.60 along parts of Cascade Road.
In southeast Atlanta, Lakewood Heights is seeing it around $3.40-$3.50.
Outside Atlanta, here's a bit of what we're seeing:
$3.45 in Woodstock
$3.45 in Chamblee
$3.49 in Smyrna
$3.59 in North Druid Hills
$3.44 in Marietta
According to GasBuddy's Patrick De Haan, the average price nationally is now $3.58 a gallon, the highest we've seen it since 2014.
The average for Atlanta is now $3.45.
