Home Depot says it will hire 80,000 people this spring

The company says it will fill a range of full- and part-time jobs.

ATLANTA — The Home Depot says it will hire 80,000 people this spring in a range of full- and part-time positions for what the company calls its busiest season of the year.

The Atlanta-based home supply store says many of the positions will be part-time roles in their garden centers. It's not clear if they will strictly be seasonal or not.

Home Depot says the garden center positions "give associates a chance to work with their hands and help neighbors start spring projects."

The company said it's also hiring for overnight freight, merchandising, various customer service roles and warehouse positions at distribution centers.

According to Home Depot, new hires are quickly brought up to speed with training programs and tools that include on-the-job coaching, a mobile app and e-learning.

"More than 90 percent of our store leaders began their careers here as hourly associates, which is a testament to our commitment to growing the careers of our people," the company's executive vice president of human resources, Tim Hourigan, said in the release.

The company directs interested job-seekers to either visit the company's careers website at careers.homedepot.com and submit an application or text JOBS to 52270 for a link to local openings.
