Child critical after 2-car accident in Atlanta

Here's what we know.

ATLANTA — A child had to be rushed to the hospital in critical condition after being hurt in a car accident in Atlanta, officials said.

According to Atlanta Fire Rescue, two cars were involved in the accident at the intersection of Northside Drive at 10th Street.

According to Atlanta Police, one of the cars was heading north on Northside Drive and tried to turn left onto 10th Street. Police said the car, carrying the driver, a woman and two small children, failed to yield and was hit by an oncoming car.

Police said the one of the children - a 5-month-old - was not properly secured in the car seat and led to the child being seriously hurt. EMTs took the child to Egleston, while they transported the driver to Grady Hospital. Police said his injuries were not life-threatening. The driver in the other car also was not seriously hurt.

Right now, police don't anticipate charging the second driver.
