Coca-Cola launches 'alcopop' in Japan

The company began test marketing the "alcopop" beverage, called Lemon-Do, in Japan last year.

ATLANTA — The Coca-Cola Company plans to launch an alcoholic beverage throughout Japan this October.

The company began test marketing the "alcopop" beverage, called Lemon-Do, in Japan last year. Now the company is ready to expand the drink nationwide.

Lemon-Do is an "alcopop," or a beverage with low alcohol content that has certain flavoring added to it.

Coke fans who want to try the new boozy beverage will have to make travel plans, as Lemon-Do is a Japan-only product, the company confirmed to Atlanta Business Chronicle.

CEO James Quincy told Yahoo Finance in 2019 that the company would not bring alcoholic beverages to the US in 2019.
