ATLANTA — 11Alive celebrated nonprofits and the great work they do for our community in two large ways on Georgia Gives Day on Giving Tuesday.
On Tuesday, Nov. 28, Atlanta & Company aired from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. in an hour-long special for Georgia Gives Day. That day's show featured nine local nonprofits, including the Salvation Army, The UNCF, Atlanta Union Mission and more. Guests also included Kaven Beavor, the executive director of the Georgia Center for Nonprofits who puts on Georgia Gives Day on Giving Tuesday, which falls on the Tuesday after retail holidays Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
"Through #GAgivesThanks and GAgives on GivingTuesday, we’re encouraging Georgians to showcase the importance of nonprofits and demonstrate just how much we appreciate the difference they make in our lives," Beavor said in a statement.
In addition, during Tuesday's 11Alive News at 4pm newscast, 11Alive and the TEGNA Foundation awarded grants to nine deserving nonprofits in the Atlanta area.
