Hawks feature Downtown Atlanta business | Here's why

It’s a move to spotlight small businesses throughout the season, putting potentially millions of eyes on the groups.

ATLANTA — While people cheer for the Atlanta Hawks, the team is working to make some big wins off the court with its "Lift As We Fly" campaign.

The Hawks put the spotlight on Reuben’s Deli in Downtown Atlanta, the first business to be highlighted by the team's campaign to feature local small businesses.

Starting on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 4:04 p.m., Reuben’s will be on display on the Downtown Spectacular and State Farm Arena digital marquee located on the corner of Marietta Street and Centennial Olympic Park Drive. The business will also be displayed on the team’s online small business directory.

A new business will be displayed each day for the rest of the season. It’s a move to spotlight small businesses throughout the season, putting potentially millions of eyes on these local treasures.

Reubens Deli has been a staple in the Downtown Atlanta community for nearly three decades, first opening its doors in 1996. Owner Claudio Furgiuele said that he’s happy the Hawks are doing something good for the neighborhood.

“You can’t pay for that much goodwill. It also brings people down into the city. It’s a win-win for everybody,” said Furgiuele.

The "Lift As We Fly" campaign comes with the team’s new Nike NBA Fly City Edition uniforms and court, which will be displayed when the Hawks take on the Miami Heat for a home game on Saturday night.

Narcis Alikhani, the Atlanta Hawks’ vice president of marketing said the uniforms were inspired by the City of Atlanta.

“Atlanta is a city known for its spirit and determination. This campaign represents just that and our deep-rooted commitment to the community and lifting one another up,” said Alikhani.
