This Decatur neighborhood is decked out in Halloween decor | Map

Take a festive walk to see creative and creepy displays.

DECATUR, Ga. — It's getting spooky as people get into the holiday spirit. There's one metro Atlanta neighborhood that's dedicated to hauntingly good decor.

Front yards seem to be possessed in Decatur with otherworldly decorations depicting the Halloween spirit. Some have a humorous take on the holiday while others take an eerie approach.

Nancy Wilkinson, who tries to keep track of the festive displays, posted ones worth visiting in a Facebook group so people know exactly where to look. As an administrator of the group, she said it's a fun way to be neighborly.

"I've been enjoying taking pictures of smaller decorations you might not notice while driving around," she said. "Decatur is such a walkable city, it's fun to find the hidden treasures when you're moving slower."

Wilkinson said she just adopted a new rescue dog who loves to walk, making it even easier to capture incredibly captivating displays.

People can visit Jacob the Wolf and other freaky fairytale creations along East Lake Drive. There are some hair-raising projections that are worth an evening walk along McKoy Street.

People can chuckle as they walk down Adair Street and catch the bone-chilling Pink Flamingoes - a skeleton band to die for. Hop on over to Winnona Park where one homeowner believes the Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce romance will reach a dead end.

While some people are just setting up sinister decor for the season, others are in it for some friendly competition. Wilkinson explained that the City of Decatur awards The Commissioners Cauldron to the best-decorated home or business. Directions to enter the competition can be found at the bottom of this story. In general, there are no criteria or rules.

Wilkinson said though bragging rights might be fun, she encourages others to participate because it's an enjoyable activity to do as a member of the community or a family ushering in the fall season.

"My yard decorating hobby is one of my ways of connecting with neighbors," Wilkinson said.

If you want to go on your own ghoulish walking tour, check out a map Wilkinson provided below. You can click on your cell phone and get directions while walking the route. A gallery of decorations can be found after the map.
