ATLANTA — For families traveling on Christmas Day, the USO at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport is a “home away from home.” Today, military families enjoyed a lavish buffet luncheon hosted by the Congregation of Temple in the Airport Atrium.
And the highlight is always the arrival of Santa – Jackson Bedford, a Fulton County Superior Court Senior Judge, former president of the Atlanta Bar and a decorated Naval Aviator, who flew more than 100 missions in the Vietnam conflict.
Bedford started his Christmas Day visiting sick children at Atlanta Children’s Hospital, then headed to the USO with his excited elves.
“It’s a joy to us, to walk through the airport on Christmas morning and see that we bring smiles to people’s faces, that’s why I do this on Christmas morning,” Bedford said. “Who wants to be in the airport during Christmas? But, being able to come to the USO actually makes it a lot better.”
The USO of Georgia provides a special way to bring Christmas smiles to military personnel and their families who have to travel on Christmas.
