DULUTH, Ga. — A metro Atlanta city just became even more picturesque.

In downtown Duluth, families will no longer have to struggle to grab a group selfie picture with stretched arm shots and people squeezing into the frame.

According to the city, Duluth has added selfie stands in their downtown area, so visitors now have that extra needed hand to snap that perfect shot. They can be seen with bright, playful frame designs -- grabbing the attention of those passing by. Each one is aligned to capture the scene ahead of it, whether it's of city hall and the prominent Continental Divide Marker or culturally significant public art pieces like the Phoenix in Parsons Alley and the Historic Duluth Mosaic moral.

The cell phone holder was designed to hold a phone both vertically and horizontally, which allows for flexibility in how the shots can be taken. It can work best when one's phone camera timer function is on, according to a release.

Although they were just launched, the city said they are already in good use and sparking joy among visitors. The idea stemmed from the city's marketing department and is intended to touch the whole community.

Duluth Community Development Specialist Jessica Bianchi expressed that the idea came after seeing people every day take pictures around downtown. Bianchi also designed the concept for the cell phone holder.

"No one has done this near us," she stated, "and I couldn't find a place to purchase what we needed that would hold up outdoors, so I said we'll have to make it."

They then worked with A1 Signs in Norcross to produce the final product. Bianchi said that, in a way, these selfie stands are an extension of the public art downtown.

"Photography is art, and downtown Duluth is such a beautiful focus to capture," Bianchi said.

So, the next time you happen to be in downtown Duluth, check out the unique stands and take in the beauty of this metro Atlanta city.
