Emerging 100 of Atlanta gives $80K in scholarships, funds to assist Atlanta’s youth

Six $10,000 scholarships and two $10,000 program awards were given to Atlanta students at an annual gala Saturday night.

ATLANTA — A local service organization aimed at empowering Black youth in Atlanta awarded thousands of dollars in scholarships to outstanding students Saturday night.

The Emerging 100 of Atlanta hosted its 11th annual Emerging Leaders Awards & Scholarship Gala, bringing together some of the top Black businessmen and community leaders in Atlanta for an annual night of giving.

The event was held at the Delta Flight Museum.

Large checks, smiling faces, and inspiring speeches filled the stage as six $10,000 scholarships and two $10,000 program awards were given to students in Atlanta, and those programs were devoted to serving them. Scholarship recipients included Herman McGee, Joshua Salami, DeAngelo Stargell, Isaiah Rashid, Jeremiah Lowther, and Gloria Okwueze.

“By investing time and resources into our young people, we not only empower them to reach their full potential but also strengthen the fabric of our community. We recognize that mentored youth are more likely to excel academically, develop essential life skills, and become active, engaged citizens. This, in turn, cultivates a thriving, vibrant community here in Atlanta, where every individual has the chance to succeed and contribute positively.” said Emerging 100 of Atlanta VP Chris Scott.

Awards were also given to several members of the Atlanta community, including those who are members of 100 Black Men of Atlanta.

The Emerging 100 of Atlanta is the young professional auxiliary of 100 Black Men of Atlanta, a service organization founded with a mission to “improve the quality of life by supporting and enhancing educational and economic opportunities, particularly for African-American youth in the Atlanta community.”

The Atlanta Chapter is part of more than 100 chapters worldwide composed of more than 10,000 members, all dedicated to not only creating a foundation for the next generation but also assisting them in their journeys so that they are equipped to help the following generation.

"The Emerging 100 of Atlanta passionately believes in giving back to the Atlanta community and is proud to have provided more than a half-million dollars in scholarship awards since our inception, culminating at our 11th Annual Emerging Leaders Awards & Scholarship Gala! On behalf of our volunteer membership, we are deeply humbled to foster a cycle of growth, support, and resilience through mentoring initiatives,” said Scott.
