Forsyth County deputy asks for heartfelt cards as infant daughter navigates health struggles

Forsyth County Deputy Nathan Burks said his daughter Adeline was born on Oct. 25. A high-risk pregnancy marked her arrival.

FORSYTH, Ga. — A Georgia deputy and father are reaching out for community support as their family's youngest member faces a challenging health battle in the hospital.

Forsyth County Deputy Sheriff Nathan Burks said his daughter Adeline was born on October 25; a high-risk pregnancy marked her arrival. He said they had weekly consultations with specialists leading up to her birth.

The challenges did not end there. Just one day after Adeline's birth, her mother, Bella Burks, experienced a pulmonary edema, resulting in a week-long hospitalization. The family's resilience was tested again on Thursday, Nov. 16, when concerns about Adeline's well-being led to a visit to the pediatrician.

That's when medical officials called EMS and had Adeline taken to Scottish Rite for further care.

Currently battling rhinovirus, viral bronchiolitis, and meningitis, Adeline's journey toward recovery is underway, but the road ahead is uncertain. Her parents, Nathan and Bella Burks, expect a lengthy hospital stay before they can bring their daughter home.

With Thanksgiving around the corner, the family faces the heartbreaking reality of Adeline missing her first holiday at home. This is why the family has called on the Forsyth County community to join in a collective effort to send love, encouragement, and well wishes to baby Adeline through cards.
