CUMMING, Ga. — A metro Atlanta family is reeling after a mother of two was tragically killed in a single-vehicle crash in Cumming on Tuesday.
Kelsey Duttenhofer, a 28-year-old Forsyth County woman, was found dead Tuesday after the sheriff's deputies and firefighters were called out to an area on Windermere Parkway in Cumming in response to a crash.
According to the crash investigation, Duttenhofer was driving in her 2011 Honda Accord when she lost control of the car on a curve before hitting a fence and a tree. First responders said Duttenhofer was not wearing a seatbelt, and deputies said speed was a contributing factor in the crash.
Duttenhofer leaves behind two little girls, Myla and Maxlee, who are now sadly without their mother. In an online fundraiser created by family and friends, they described Duttenhofer as "a beloved daughter, mother, and dedicated member of our community" and said that her two daughters are now facing an "unimaginable loss."
"We are thankful that Kelsey will be joyfully reunited with her departed child, Maxton, in heaven," her loved ones wrote in the fundraiser.
Duttenhofer worked as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist in the Catheterization laboratory at North Fulton Hospital in Alpharetta, according to family.
The family started the online fundraiser in an effort to help with funeral costs and to raise money to help take care of Duttenhofer's two daughters. In just a little more than one day since it started, the family has already raised more than $14,000.
"As we gather to support each other through this difficult time, we also recognize the financial burden that comes with unexpected tragedies," her family wrote. "The Duttenhofer family is now faced with the overwhelming costs of funeral expenses, along with the responsibility of providing a stable future for Myla and Maxlee."
