Funeral plans announced for Carroll County deputy who died days after being shot in the line of duty

CARROLL COUNTY, Ga. — Funeral plans have been announced for a Carroll County deputy who died days after being shot while serving a warrant. 

According to an obituary, services will be held for Investigator Taylor Bristow on Thursday, Aug. 29, at 2 p.m. at Mount Holly Church. Clay Patterson, Kim Hope, Sheriff Terry Langley and Chaplin Keith Jiles will be officiating. Hayden Bristow, Noah Bristow, Eli Patterson, Josh Murray, Clay Patterson and Jeremy Barber will serve as pallbearers. The Carroll County Sheriff's Office and law enforcement members will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family also received friends on Wednesday, Aug. 28, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Mount Holly Church.

Interment will be at Kettle Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Waycross at a later date. 

Who was Investigator Taylor Bristow?

Investigator Taylor Jaimeson Bristow was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina, on July 2, 1994. The 30-year-old of Carrollton was a deputy and investigator for the Carroll County Sheriff's Office for six years. He was a big fan of the Georgia Bulldogs and the Atlanta Braves. According to his obituary, his passion was working with children and animal abuse cases. 

He loved watching his son Noah play baseball while trying to coach behind the fence. And his daughter, Bella, was his princess. 

"They had a special bond that was evident to everyone," the obituary read.

His dogs, Bo Duke and Daisy Duke, were his sidekicks through it all and were true companions. He also made it a point to talk to his brother and best friend, Hayden, daily. 

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Tommy Murray Sr. He was the son of Robert Bristow and Shelly Murray Bristow. In addition to his parents, survivors include his wife, Melissa Harkins Bristow; children, Noah and Bella Brock; brothers, Hayden Bristow of Waycross, Noah Bristow of Alma and sister, Raelyne Bristow of Waycross.

Investigator Bristow died on Friday, Aug. 23, after being shot in the line of duty a few days earlier serving a child exploitation search warrant on Don Rich Road.
