DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — The father of an 11-year-old girl who was shot dead on Sunday has set up an online fundraiser to support funeral costs.

Makenzie Briddy was found shot to death along with her mother on Aug. 11 at the Polo Club Apartments on Ashley Creek Circle, according to DeKalb County Police Department. There still hasn't been much released about the situation, but police said they do believe it was a murder-suicide.

Police said Briddy recently graduated from the department's Summer Survival Swim Program.

Her father, Monroe Starr, is now contacting the community for help.

"My baby is deceased now so I need help to send my baby girl Home the right way," he said in part on the fundraiser.

DeKalb Police wrote: "Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Makenzie B., a recent graduate of our Summer Survival Swim Program, who was taken away from us way too soon. Once DKPD, always DKPD. #WeAreDKPD"
