ATLANTA — Tis the Season for giving! Many families this year wanted to spread their good faith by giving to those in need. Whether it was to help those in natural disasters or those with medical expenses, Georgia residents really stepped in to lend a hand.
At least three Georgia cities made the list of most generous, but the Peach State did not land on the list of most generous states. Vermont actually took the title this year.
According to GoFundMe, the community donated once every second making a difference for families all over the country and the world.
Here are the cities that made the list:
- Spring, TX
- Marietta, GA
- Silver Spring, MD
- Miami, FL
- Sarasota, FL
- Alpharetta, GA
- Minneapolis, MN
- Olympia, WA
- Fort Lauderdale, FL
- Atlanta, GA
Last year, Marietta topped the list as the most generous city in the country. Over 10,000 residents donated between $21 and $50 dollar last year. This year, the metro Atlanta city made second on the list, with Spring, Texas topping the list. According to city officials, most of the money donated last year was to support animals and pet adoptions. Marietta's mayor celebrated residents with a concert series in 2022.
Alpharetta also made the list last year hitting no. 7 on the list, rising one spot in 2023.
