COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A 57-year-old man is facing charges after a teen girl was killed during a "domestic incident" Friday, according to Cobb County Police.
It happened at a home on Fringe Flower Drive around 9:24 a.m. When officers arrived, they found 57-year-old Alejandro Mario Bencomo Aguilar with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. When officers approached him, he attempted to stab himself with a knife, police said.
Other officers on the scene then found the 16-year-old girl in an upstairs bedroom shot multiple times. She later died despite lifesaving measures.
Aguilar was taken to Grady Hospital, where he went through surgery and is now recovering.
After Cobb County Police investigated, they determined the 57-year-old was allegedly responsible for shooting the teen.
Aguilar faces murder, aggravated assault and first-degree cruelty to children charges. It's unclear if the 57-year-old man and the teen knew each other.
Authorities are still investigating the incident. For those with additional information regarding the incident, they should contact the department's major crimes unit at (770) 499-3945.
