2 arrested in connection to Athens man's death, police say

The two men are facing malice murder charges for the death of 42-year-old Jarrard Pittard.

ATHENS, Ga. — Two men have been arrested in connection to the death of an Athens man, according to police. 

The Athens-Clarke County Police Department (ACCPD) announced Tuesday that Andre Carthens, 46, and Antion Parks, 31, were arrested on Dec. 19. The men were charged with malice murder in the death of 42-year-old Jarrard Pittard. 

On Dec. 3, Athens Police responded to the area of  North Avenue and Willow Street for reports of a deceased person. Upon arrival,  officers located a deceased male, later identified as Pittared, along a railroad track. 

Details surrounding the cause or manner of death have not been released at this time. The incident remains under investigation. Police are asking anyone with information to contact Det. Lister at 762-400-7333 or Hovie.Lister@accgov.com.
