2 men arrested after shooting at Perimeter Mall, Dunwoody Police say

One man is accused of firing a gun, the other helping him escape, according to investigators.

DUNWOODY, Ga. — Two men are facing charges after last week's shooting at Perimeter Mall.

Dunwoody Police Department detectives announced Tuesday that the two men, 21 and 20 years old, are in custody. Officers originally said the shooter was in custody and have determined he had an accomplice.

Police were called to the mall on the evening of Jan. 6 after receiving reports of a shooting. They found a man on the lower level near the food court shot.

Evidence shows the victim got into an argument with another man who pulled a gun on him and fired a shot; the victim returned fire, according to police. The alleged shooter was able to get away, despite being shot, authorities said.

In their Tuesday update, Dunwoody said the 20-year-old hopped into his getaway car with the 21-year-old suspect.

It was after speaking with witnesses and checking security camera video that investigators were able to get a description of the 20-year-old suspect and his vehicle. The descriptions were given to all surrounding law enforcement agencies, which led them to the Pleasantdale Crossing Apartments in Doraville – about 14 minutes away.

Police said the shooter was arrested at the complex. He is accused of aggravated battery, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and reckless conduct. His alleged getaway driver is facing charges of reckless conduct and party to the crime of aggravated battery.

The victim is still in the hospital seriously hurt, police said. Despite his injuries, he's listed as stable.
