SAVANNAH, Ga. — Police are investigating after a Saturday evening shooting that left two officers injured in Savannah.
WSAV-TV reports the shooting happened around 8 p.m. when officers were responding to a robbery near East 39th and Drayton streets in the city's midtown area.
Police told the station that as the officers walked up to a car shots were fired and two officers were injured. A suspect was also hurt.
Authorities haven't yet released the severity of the injuries. WSAV reported dozens of police cars in the area when the investigation first began.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation reports that agents are heading to the scene to assist in the investigation. Spokesperson Nelly Miles said this is the 32nd officer-involved shooting the agency has been requested to investigate in 2019.
