2nd suspect arrested in Lenox Square parking lot shooting

Tyreese Brown was arrested Wednesday by Georgia State Patrol troopers off I-75 in Monroe County.

ATLANTA — After spending weeks on the run, police said they've arrested a second suspect in a February shooting that happened in the Lenox Square parking lot.

Atlanta Police said 23-year-old Tyreese Brown was arrested Wednesday by Georgia State Patrol troopers off I-75 in Monroe County.

According to police, Brown and his alleged accomplice, 21-year-old, Shakeria King, had plans to meet their victim at the Buckehead neighborhood mall back on Feb. 10 for a "transaction."

Police said Brown and King met the 40-year-old victim along with the victim's friend in the parking lot of the mall, outside the food court. 

At some point, police said one of the suspects pulled out a gun and shot the victim before both ran off. The victim's friend was not hurt.

When officers got to the scene, the found the victim, who was stable. Emergency responders took him to the hospital. 

During the police investigation, authorities identified Brown and King as the suspects and secured warrants for their arrest on charges of aggravated assault, armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

King was arrested 10 days after the incident in Dublin, Georgia. With Brown's arrest, both suspects are in custody.

"We are extremely pleased with the work our investigators put into this case and we are thankful for our valued partner, the Georgia State Patrol," police said in a statement.

Meanwhile, police said Brown will be brought back to Fulton County to face his charges.
