MONROE, Ga. — Three juveniles were arrested and accused of murder in the death of a 19-year-old who was shot earlier this month. An 18-year-old was also hurt in the shooting.
Monroe Police Department detectives announced their arrest Tuesday. Police said the three were involved in the Oct. 2 shooting by North Broad Street and G.W. Carver Drive.
Authorities said while en route to the area just before 11 p.m. that night, they received a second call reporting gunshot victims. Officers said when they arrived, they found the two teens, 19-year-old Dameon Johnson and an 18-year-old hurt. Both were shot multiple times and rushed to Piedmont-Athens by EMS. Johnson died due to his injuries, authorities said.
Monroe officers did not share details about how the arrests were made or details about the suspects. The department will not release the suspects' names as they are minors and added that they are accused of "other criminal offenses."
The department did acknowledge the Walton County Sheriff's Office and the district attorney's office's assistance in this case.
Police are still investigating. Officers ask that people who may know more about the case report tips to 770-267-7576.
