5 arrested after man shot, stabbed, beaten in Acworth, deputies say

The victim was severely injured but is expected to survive, the Sheriff's Office said.

ACWORTH, Ga. — Five people are behind bars after a man was allegedly shot, stabbed, beaten and held against his will in Bartow County over the weekend, according to the Sheriff's Office.

On May 26, deputies responded to the emergency room at Piedmont Hospital in Cartersville for a report of a man suffering from gunshot and stab wounds. Upon arrival, a 32-year-old victim told deputies he was assaulted in the 6600 block of Wagonwheel Drive in Acworth and identified his alleged assailants. 

He also told authorities the suspects allowed him to leave following the attack, and he went to get medical attention. Deputies said although the victim was severely injured, he is expected to survive. 

Following an investigation, law enforcement went to the Wagonwheel Drive address and arrested five people in connection to the incident. 

The following suspects were arrested and booked into the Bartow County Jail: 

  • Jaleyne Elymar Vivas-Blanco, 20, of Acworth - charged with criminal attempt to commit murder, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, kidnapping, false imprisonment, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and tampering with evidence.
  • Jerry Scott Taylor, 42, of Acworth - charged with criminal attempt to commit murder, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, kidnapping, false imprisonment, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, tampering with evidence, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
  • Austin Reed Sedlaczek, 24, of Acworth - Charged with criminal attempt to commit murder, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, kidnapping, false imprisonment, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, tampering with evidence, and obstruction 
  • Michael Charles Wade, 33, of Acworth - charged with tampering with evidence
  • Stephanie Lynn Holbrook, 52, of Cartersville - Charged with tampering with evidence

Bartow County Sheriff Clark Millsap said that everyone involved knew each other, and no further arrests are anticipated. 

The incident remains under investigation.
