11Alive's Ron Jones got to go behind those walls to talk to some of them. We found out that some of them even like being behind bars.

One inmate said he'd been to Fulton County 50 times or more.

"It's the lifestyle I be living. I'm living one lifestyle," he said. "That's all I know. That's it. That's all I know."

Fulton Chief Jailer Col. Mike Adger gave 11Alive an unprecedented exclusive look at the jail.

"A lot of times when people get here they are in the worst situation they have already been it in their life," Adger said.

They are behind bars for various reasons. Adger said they hear all kinds of stories and many excuses.

"Beause we are talking about the dark side of human nature for the most part," he said

For the baddest of the bunch, maximum security is where they are held. Many of them are in red jump suites in a different zone.

"These are people who are in jail for high felonies, your murders, your aggravated assaults, your rapes," Adger said.

According to the Atlanta Police Department, 79 people were arrested for murder last year and 233 were arrested for rape. More than 2,000 were arrested for aggravated assault.
