LITHONIA, Ga. — A DeKalb County jury convicted a 28-year-old man on Monday for stabbing and killing his mother in 2020.
District Attorney Sherry Boston announced the conviction of Antonio Williams on Wednesday. The jury found him guilty of malice murder, two counts of felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a knife during commission of a felony.
The district attorney's office said the incident happened on March 5, 2020, when officers found Williams' mother, 48-year-old Terri Alexander, dead on the garage floor of their Lithonia home on White Oak Loop.
When authorities discovered her body, she had multiple stab wounds, and her body was covered by a sheet.
According to a release from DA Boston, police said Williams told authorities he came home from the hospital and found his mother unresponsive. He then said he went to a neighbor's house to call 911 and told them his mother had fainted.
However, when police found Alexander's body, they found firewood, lighter fluid and charcoal. They also found a burn hole on the sheet covering the victim, the release stated.
Officers also found dried blood throughout the house and a bloody chef's knife, indicating the victim was stabbed. Authorities also found more evidence and items with blood and empty bleach bottles.
Authorities learned Williams returned home from a mental health unit at Grady Hospital the day before his mother's death after reviewing the location of Alexander's phone.
The judge has not scheduled a sentencing date for Williams.
