ATLANTA — Atlanta Police investigators were able to use DNA to track down an accused serial rapist. Detectives were able to link the accused suspect to four separate rape cases that happened in the Five Points and Underground area in 2022 and early 2023.
During a press conference on Friday, APD Special Victims Unit Commander Lt. Andrew Smith said the cases were random interactions.
Authorities said the suspect was arrested on March 30 and remains in custody without bond. However, detectives believe there may be additional victims.
Smith described the suspect as a man in his 40s, who stands 6-feet-8-inches tall and weighs 230 pounds.
"We are not identifying the male by name or photo due to our belief that there are additional victims that have not come forward," Smith said. "In order to prosecute the case, we don't want to share the photo (of the man) so we can build a case should anyone else come forward."
