HARALSON COUNTY, Ga. — A man is accused of fatally shooting his estranged wife and then dying by suicide at a Haralson County home Wednesday, according to deputies.
The Haralson County Sheriff's Office said they responded to the scene in the 100 block of Beaver Run Road around 1 p.m. after receiving a call from the daughter of 36-year-old Johnny Franklin Brown II and 35-year-old Christa Lee Brown. She told authorities her father threatened to shoot her mother and heard multiple shots outside of the home.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they said they found the estranged couple dead. Witness testimony and the investigation revealed Johnny shot his estranged wife before he died by suicide, the sheriff's office said.
“Murder suicides are one of the hardest for us to work in that there are no real answers as to the why. Tonight, two families are grieving, and four children have lost both parents in this horrible traumatic incident. Please join me in praying for these children and these families,” Sheriff Stacy Williams said in a news release.
Deputies said the Department of Family and Children Services were notified and the minor children are with a former foster parent.
