DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — An armed carjacking led into a police pursuit Thursday night in DeKalb County, according to officers.
A 29-year-old woman and a juvenile were involved in the incident. Police called them both suspects.
Authorities first received a call about the armed carjacking around 8:20 p.m. Thursday near the intersection of Glenwood Road and Austin Drive.
According to a news release, officers then issued a "be on the lookout" alert for the vehicle they believed the suspects were in. Once DeKalb County Police spotted the vehicle, they conducted a traffic stop that went awry. The driver ended up hitting a police vehicle, officers said. After the suspect hit the patrol car, an officer then fired shots.
A news release stated the suspect then drove away from the scene, leading to a police pursuit. Police said the suspects were involved in a crash ultimately ending the pursuit.
The 29-year-old suspect told police she was not feeling well. Emergency crews then took her to the hospital, while the juvenile was taken into custody.
Police said the 29-year-old woman remains at the hospital but, once released, will go to jail.
Law enforcement officers later searched the vehicle and found two weapons.
Authorities said they are still working to get warrants for the juvenile driver. Police have not announced the charges for the suspects.
