CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — Authorities have charged a man with vehicular homicide after a police chase ended in a deadly crash over the weekend in Clayton County.
Before that crash, police in DeKalb County said the suspect held a gun up to the driver of a yellow Camaro and fled with the vehicle.
The car eventually fled into Clayton County.
Shortly after 9 p.m. on Saturday, the Riverdale Police Department spotted the Camaro by its tag and requested assistance. Allegedly, the suspect was considered armed and dangerous.
Both Riverdale P.D. and the Clayton County Sheriff's Office performed a traffic stop but the Camaro sped off.
The driver, Deundra Smith, fled for what authorities say was around 3/4 of a mile when he lost control of the vehicle and crossed into the opposite lane.
At that moment, the vehicle hit another vehicle on Riverdale Road and Garden Walk Boulevard. All three people inside were taken to the hospital.
Two of those passengers were in serious condition, according to authorities, and on Wednesday, one of those two passed away from injuries.
Smith, meanwhile, is being charged with the following in both Clayton County and DeKalb.
- Theft by taking a motor vehicle (Felony)
- Fleeing and attempting to elude police (Felony)

- Possession of a firearm during a commission of a felony (Felony)
