Athens man arrested for murder, one suspect still at large

The victim was found on Oak Hill Drive with multiple gunshot wounds, according to police.

Ralph Lakee Bess, 29, is wanted and Davonte Jamal Brown, 25, has been arrested in connection with the death of Walter James Brown Jr. in Athens, Georgia.

A 25-year-old Athens man has been charged in the murder of Walter James Brown Jr., who was found shot several times outside a home on Oak Hill Drive.

Davonte Jamal Brown, who is not a blood relative of the victim, has been transported to Clarke County Jail on malice murder charges.

Police have also issued an arrest warrant for Ralph Lee Bess, a 29-year-old Athens man. He is also facing murder charges in Brown's death. anyone who knows where he is should contact 911.

Police said the shooting happened around 8:40 a.m. Monday. Officers found Brown on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. Police officers tried to help stabilize him until paramedics arrived. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
