ATLANTA — A 14-year-old and 11-year-old were shot late Sunday night at a home in Atlanta, with police saying an adult, James Kimbrough, was arrested for reckless conduct, cruelty to children, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Atlanta Police Capt. Joshua Holt said it's believed the incident was a domestic one, but police could not yet detail the relationships between either of the young victims or the adult. Capt. Holt also could not yet say whether the shooting was suspected to be accidental or not; he did note it was considered isolated.
Both the boys were taken to the hospital in stable condition; there was no further information available about their conditions. Holt said the investigation had determined the two boys did not shoot each other.
It happened at a home on Omaha Road, outside the Perimeter in southwest Atlanta's Arlington Estates neighborhood. The 911 call came in around 10:30 p.m. Sunday night, police said.
According to APD, one of the boys was driven to the nearby Shell station on Campbellton Road to find a "place of safety," where a second scene was investigated. It's not believed any shooting of any kind happened there.
Holt said police found the first victim at the gas station before arriving at the home and finding the second victim.
