ATLANTA — A man was shot while repossessing a car in Atlanta's Sylvan Hills neighborhood early Wednesday morning, and then crashed while trying to drive away from the shooter.
Atlanta Police said the call came in little after 1 a.m. to an address on Perkerson Road near Langford Parkway.
Officers encountered an overturned vehicle when they arrived on scene, and the driver was reported as "alert, conscious and breathing." He had a gunshot wound and was taken to the hospital.
"Preliminary investigation indicates the victim was in the process of repossessing a defaulted contracted vehicle. The victim was then confronted and shot by a suspect(s) occupying a white Sedan after recovering the defaulted contracted vehicle," a police report stated. "The victim attempted to flee from the suspect and was shot during the process, leading to the crash. Investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident."
