ATLANTA — Atlanta Police responded Thursday morning to a woman shot on MLK Drive.
There were few details initially available. All APD could immediately confirm was that a female had been shot.
The incident was reported at an address that corresponds with the Abby Ridge Apartments.
APD said in a statement that officers responded around 10 a.m. and located the woman who was "alert, conscious and breathing."
She was taken to a hospital for treatment, the statement said.
"Preliminary investigation indicates the shooting occurred during a dispute between the victim and a male suspect. The fled the scene after the incident in what appeared to be a red in color Ford Taurus with dark tinted windows and a temporary drive out tag," a police statement said. "Investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident."
