Atlanta Police searching for murder suspect after he escapes custody while at Grady Hospital

This is a developing story.

ATLANTA — The Atlanta Police Department is searching for a man who had been arrested for murder after he escaped from the hospital on Friday.

According to police, they were notified of an incident involving the escape of an arrestee who was in the custody of Atlanta City Detention Center staff. The man was awaiting medical treatment at Grady Hospital at the time of his escape.

Police have since identified him as 32-year-old Carwon Marquavious Redding. He was originally arrested by MARTA Police on Thursday in connection to an April 14 homicide on Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway. He's been charged with felony murder and criminal attempt to sell cocaine, police said. 

In the below photo, Redding was captured on surveillance leaving Grady Hospital. Police said that Redding may have disrobed and could be wearing different clothing.

If you find a discarded Grady hospital gown or bright yellow sick, you're urged to call 911.

 APD officers are actively searching the area. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding his escape is ongoing, police said.
