ATLANTA -- Atlanta Police are investigating three carjackings and an armed robbery from Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning that they say may be related.
Police are looking for a group of four armed men who targeted six people in the last 72 hours. Four people had their cars stolen and two were robbed at gunpoint in Midtown and Buckhead.
"We are bringing in a lot of resources to catch these guys as quickly as possible, and these types of crimes are simply unacceptable in the city of Atlanta," Atlanta Police Chief Glazier said.
At about 5:30 a.m. Monday, police responded to the 100 block of Montgomery Ferry Road in northeast Atlanta in response to reports of a carjacking.
The victim from that case told police a black male dressed in all-black jumped out of the bushes with a handgun and demanded he drop his keys. When he dropped his keys, another male, also dressed in all-black appeared and both suspects took off in the victim's vehicle -- a silver 2013 Toyota 4Runner.
About a half-hour later, Atlanta Police responded to a reported carjacking in the 1200 block of Francis Street in northwest Atlanta.
When officers arrived, the victim in that particular case said he was parked in his driveway gathering belongings from inside his car when two black males approached him.
The person on the driver's side pointed a black handgun at the victim and demanded that he give up his belongings.
The victim exited his car and charged toward the suspect with the weapon. The suspect fired two shots at the victim but missed.
The suspect on the opposite side of the car jumped into the car and pushed over to the driver's side before reversing the car out of the driveway.
At that point, the suspect with the handgun hopped into the car and the suspects fled with the victim's silver Infiniti G25. Police said the car had two vintage skateboards sitting in the rear window.
The two suspects in the second case were also described as being dressed in all black. In addition, police said the suspect with the handgun had a dust mask on and appeared to be between 35 and 40 years old.
"From the violence, they're committing and the comfort they have with the crimes, it seems like they're older and have experience," Glazier said.
The third carjacking took place at about 6:15 Tuesday morning. Officers responded to a reported carjacking in the 1500 block of Piedmont Avenue.
The victim told police in that case that as he was locking his vehicle, he was approached by two black males. One of them put a small black handgun in his face and demanded his keys.
After the victim surrendered his keys, the suspects left in his red Infiniti Q50.
"It was a very terrifying thing to happen. You would never wish it on anyone else," one victim told 11Alive. "I'm lucky that I'm here. So one thing I would say is just give them all your stuff and let them take your car."
On Wednesday morning at about 6:50, police responded to an armed robbery call in the 1600 block of Piedmont Avenue of northeast Atlanta.
When they arrived, they found a victim who said that she was approached by a male who pointed a small black handgun at her head.
The victim described the suspect as a medium to dark complected black male with a small build, dressed in dark clothing. He had a black mask covering his face with an oval-shaped pattern stitched for the eyes.
The victim said she screamed. The male told her, "Don't scream, shut up." The suspect then took the victim's work bag off of her shoulder -- which contained her Dell work laptop computer and student test files. Then, he demanded her cell phone. After she surrendered the phone, the suspect told the victim to type in the passcode to unlock the phone and to disable to lock feature and location services. Then, he asked her if she had any money. The victim replied, "No."
A silver Infiniti with a dented front bumper pulled up at that point, the suspect jumped into the rear door and it pulled off.
"Clearly, these suspects don't have a moral compass," Chief Glazier told 11Alive. "These aren't crimes that we see very often when people are targeted at their residence."
Atlanta Police are still searching for the suspects in all four cases.
