Business partners in East Point who disappeared were shot multiple times, set on fire

Jason Salter and Kenny Guerra's remains were found near the Chattahoochee River in 2023.

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — The Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office told 11Alive Friday that business partners who vanished last February and whose remains were later found were each shot multiple times before being set on fire.

Jason Salter and Kenny Guerra were last seen on Feb. 25, 2023. Salter's brother reported them missing on Feb. 26 after Salter didn't come home or answer his cell phone.

A few hundred friends, family, police officers and community members came together, hoping and praying to find them.

After a 51-day search, Chattahoochee Hills Police Department found the apparent remains of two people near the river at the Bouckaert Farm property in Fulton County. The farm sits on 8,000 acres and is home to an event space and equestrian facility, according to its website.

Authorities said the fire department that was called out to the blaze extinguished the flames noticed the charred remains after they put out the fire.

The remains of Salter, 39, were positively identified by the Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office in April 2023. His remains were identified by dental records, according to medical examiners.

A month later, officials with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation confirmed that agents identified the second business partner, Guerra, 35.

The GBI said there are no new updates to report regarding any suspects but confirmed that agents have looked into the victims’ last known activities before they went missing.

In 2018, Salter and Guerra joined a movement to combat violent crime in the neighborhood surrounding Old National Highway and even pitched in to help the family of a young mother who was gunned down at her own store.

Anyone with information about the two best friends is urged to call authorities in Fulton County or contact the GBI Tip Line at (800) 597-8477 or through their "See Something, Send Something" mobile app. Tips can be submitted anonymously.
