Argument escalates to deadly stabbing near Chamblee shopping center on Memorial Day, 3 arrested: police

Authorities are still looking for a fourth suspect in the deadly incident.

CHAMBLEE, Ga. — Three men are facing charges after a man was stabbed to death, and another was hospitalized near a Chamblee shopping center on Memorial Day, according to police.

Authorities said the incident started out as a verbal argument between two groups, a total of seven men, that escalated to a fight and stabbing. It happened around 6:35 p.m. on Monday at the plaza located at 3160 Chamblee Dunwoody Road on the sidewalk.

Chamblee Police said one of the suspects came up behind one of the victims, stabbing him twice. The police department said the 24-year-old victim is critically hurt and remains hospitalized at Grady.

Another victim, police identified as 29-year-old Delmar Gerardo Hernandez-Perez, was stabbed in the chest and died while at the hospital.

Investigators believe after the stabbing, three of the suspects got into a taxi. That's when police said another taxi driver saw what had happened and stopped the taxi, with the suspects in it, from leaving.

The suspects then got out of the car and ran to the Farmer's Market, where they got into another taxi, according to authorities. A Chamblee Police Officer who was working at the Farmers Market was alerted by the taxi driver who had stopped the other taxi that the suspects were involved in the deadly altercation, police said.

Authorities said the officer stopped the taxi and took the three suspects into custody.

Adrian Sanchez Ayuzo, 37, is facing murder and aggravated assault charges, and the other two are charged with party to a crime in relation to the incident, according to police.

Authorities are still looking for a fourth suspect in the deadly altercation.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the Chamblee Police Department at (770) 986-5005.
