ATLANTA — A deadly double shooting happened in Atlanta on Friday morning along Cheshire Bridge Road, according to police.

The Atlanta Police Department said it happened on the 1700 block of Cheshire Bridge Road in northeast Atlanta. A call came in just 10 minutes before 5 a.m. reporting a person had been shot.

When the officer arrived, two men were found shot; police said one died, and the other person was shot several times and taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The victim who died was identified as 25-year-old Jacobi Peterson.

Officers believe the shooting seemed from a confrontation between the two men at a parking lot. 11Alive's Jerry Carnes reported around 6:40 a.m. that the road could be closed for about another hour and a half while police investigate.
