FORSYTH, Ga. — A Georgia city's payroll clerk has been placed under arrest after being accused of using a former employee's checking account to make illegal purchases.
Monroe County deputies arrested Mary Linda Black, the payroll clerk for the city of Forsyth, on Tuesday. This comes after a criminal investigation led to probable cause on charges of identity fraud and theft by taking.
The sheriff's office said City Manager Janice Hall and the Forsyth city officials cooperated fully with the investigation. As detectives continue to investigate, the city has notified employees of a possible breach and has asked them to review their bank accounts for possible abnormalities.
